sirens 2018 artists
We are delighted to announce this year's lineup of outstanding artists. These women (and the men that support them) represent a diverse set of genres - rock, jazz, soul, pop, country and jazz. They are linked through excellence; each of these acts is a true performer: captivating & passionate. We look forward to experiencing their magic with all of you. See you on the mountain!
She blends soul with rock & roll, strums inspired improv musical journeys, and sings with a combination of power and sweetness that is truly rare. She can simultaneously slay a crowd and wrap you around her little finger. She's the Queen of Action. She's Melissa Reaves. We are beyond honored to welcome Melissa to her 5th Sirens on the Mountain.
Lindsey and Chesley plus Hannah equal STEVIE, a garage-pop band from Durham, NC. Stevie has a style and sound reminiscent of the great girl bands of the 1990s, but they make that familiar fun relevant to the Right Now. We look forward to creating unforgettable moments with these ladies at Sirens on the Mountain this June.
Tea cup Gin
Combine talented musicians with a flair for performance, add a dash of sly sophistication - shake, strain and pour....you'll get the delightful Tea Cup Gin. This band from Durham has built a devoted fanbase performing their mixture of jazz, blues, and deco noir songs, both vintage and original. Tea Cup Gin will get your tappin' toes on the dance floor, and then send you home swooning. No doubt you'll agree that their sound is a perfect fit for our elegant party on the New River.
Shenette Swann combines jazz, soul, and blues to make a vibrant sound that is truly her own. With a vast musical background in classical, blues, hip hop, and jazz, Shenette captivates audiences of all ages. Her dynamic voice creates harmonies, beats, and sound effects - all live - while performing. Shenette is a skilled storyteller, who can "tell it like it is" and also an exceptional woman, who believes deeply in her community and contributes to its growth. It is our pleasure to welcome Shenette to our community of music lovers this year at Sirens on the Mountain.
When a woman of talent gets out on the road and lets her music lead - people pay attention. People far and wide are paying attention to Alexa Rose, and we are so pleased she will be joining us at Sirens 2018. Her voice bas been compared to some of the greats: Loretta Lynn, Joni Mitchell, and Emmylou Harris. Alexa's music combines American Roots, country, and rock & roll to create an authentic groove that's all her own. If you haven't heard Alexa play live yet, you need to. If you've seen her perform, we know you'll be back.
Mexican HOT CHOCOLATE
From a mysterious spring nestled deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Boone, a frothy flow of Mexican Hot Chocolate bubbles forth. This alternative jazz band has an enticing sound that you just can't quit....spicy and sweet, just like, well, you know....Mexican Hot Chocolate. They are the perfect addition to our festival, and we can't wait to get a taste.
The New River Barn is located at 839 River Road in Todd, North Carolina. Todd is located about midway between West Jefferson and Boone.
Currently there is road construction on Castleford Road, one of the direct routes to the venue. It is our sincere hope the construction will have finished before June 23rd. We will post updated directions here on the website and also inform ticket buyers of the most direct route in the days leading up to the festival.
